2015 Rivers National Qualifiers

2015 Rivers National: Llangollen Maelor AA water, R.Dee – 27th-28th July 2015

Some dates have already been arranged, others will be added in due course. Note that following a vote taken at the 2013 TEFF AGM, you can enter as many Rivers Qualifiers as you like, and are no longer restricted to just the one.

To clarify:

1. An individual will be allowed to enter and fish as many River Qualifiers as they wish, as long as they have recognised the unique cut-off date for each of the various River Qualifiers, and providing they have paid for each Qualifier they have entered, including the TEFF Entry Fee, the Federation Surcharge, and the Fishery Charge.

2. It is up to each entrant to decide and manage which Qualifier they enter. However, if they successfully qualify at more than one Qualifier, the earliest qualification will stand, and any subsequent qualifications will be awarded to the next in line at that particular Qualifier.

3. The number of entrants that fished each Federation Qualifier will be used to decide the number of places in the National Final awarded to each Federation Qualifier on a pro rata basis.

Team Finals Sunday 12th April

1. Team Loomis (Andrew Scott, Phil Dixon & Simon Robinson)

Alan Jenkins, AT TEFF Bank Team Manager, reports: Elinor Trout Fishery in Kettering hosted the England Bank Stillwater Final on 11th April 2015 for competitors hoping to make the England team and fish the International at Woodford Fly Fishery, Carrickfergus, N. Ireland, in October.

Forty six anglers fished in blustery conditions around the fishery from allocated pegs – four in the morning, and four in the afternoon.

The overall winner, and National Bank Champion, was Craig Barr, catching eight fish, using a floating line with a Damsel fly being the most successful method, followed by Dean Appleby, Phil Dixon, Simon Robinson, James Stephenson, and Conor Metcalf. Reserves are Peter Appleby and Richard Slater.

The three-man Team event was fished the following day with Team Loomis taking the honours – Andrew Scott, Phil Dixon and Simon Robinson.

My thanks to Jim Tuck for organising the event, and to Ed Foster for the use of Elinor Trout Fishery.

Alan Jenkins, AT TEFF Manager

Rivers Qualifiers Multiple Entry Rules

2014 – 2015 River Qualifier Season

AT TEFF have undertaken a review of the first year of Multi Entries in River Qualifiers and as a consequence have agreed to the establishment of common authorised structures, methods of scoring and compilation of results for the River Qualifiers.

The introduction of multi-entries this year has been a success with a 20% increase in the number of individuals entering, nearly 50 individuals multi entering and a doubling of qualifier places.

Attached are the “River Multi Entry Qualifier Rules” which the AT TEFF will be
introducing. It is recognised that this will lead to minor changes for some Federations, however the AT TEFF request all

Federations to implement the changes for the forthcoming River Qualifier Season. (2014-2015). It is noted that the Southern and South Eastern Federations are holding Qualifiers in October and due to the advance state of their arrangements they may not be able to implement all the changes required.

Entrants for these are advised to check what rules will be applied. This will not compromise the integrity of those or any other qualifiers

Part of the review identified the need for entrants to have up-to-date information as to how many entrants were competing in the various Federation Qualifiers and their results, so they could plan their multi entry strategy and identify potential qualification for National Final places. To facilitate this, a pilot programme was developed and successfully run during 2014 and will be formally introduced, published and maintained on the AT TEFF web site for this forthcoming Qualifier Season.

Chairman AT TEFF

Changes to the way Loch-style Qualifiers will be run

Commencing with the 2015 season, boat anglers will be able to enter as many Loch-style Qualifiers as they wish. Final details of venues and dates are still to be worked upon, however, we are optimistic that we shall be in a position to take entries from mid-January 2015. A full set of Entry Process Rules and Match Rules will be available, along with a Risk Assessment. Entries and payments will be taken online or by the usual methods of post and cheque. An online database is being developed that will allow entrants to see if they lie in a qualifying place – again this should be available by mid-January. Entries will be taken centrally via a link on this website so watch this space.
