The Angling Trust are pleased to announce the dates and venue for the 2020 Loch-Style Team Championships. This year’s competition will once again be held at Draycote Water in Warwickshire on the weekend of the 13th and 14th of June.
Now in its third year the Angling Trust Loch-Style Team Championships has become a firm favourite on the competition circuit with the number of teams competing increasing since it started in 2018. As a result, the organisers have decided to cap the number of teams which can participate in this year’s competition to 18. This year also sees Wychwood Game sponsor the event so participating teams now have the opportunity to win some great prizes from Wychwood along with the cash prizes, trophy and medals.
The Loch-Style Team Championships are open to teams of six anglers with the match run on a full catch, measure and release format. There will be three, 3-hour fishing sessions on each day where anglers within each team will fish two sessions and steward one session. The fish caught will be carefully measured with the length recorded by the boat steward. The team with the longest combined length of fish over the two days will be the overall winner. The match is fished to International Rules.
The FNF Nymphomaniacs are the current Angling Trust Loch Style team champions and will be aiming to make it three wins in a row. Teams of six anglers wishing to participate in this year’s competition can now enter online at the Angling Trust’s booking site https://www.anglingtrustevents.net/game
The rules and further information can be found on the Angling Trust’s Competitions page at https://www.anglingtrust.net/landing.asp?
Ifor Jones, Fishery Manager, Fly Fish Store said “Within two short years the Angling Trust Team Championships unique competition format has become a firm date with competition anglers, and we are pleased to be hosting the two-day event at Draycote again this year. If you haven’t yet as a team fished this event its unique format provides a great atmosphere over the two days.”
Pat MacInnes, Marketing Manager for Leeda said “Wychwood is proud to support both ends of the game fishing spectrum; the Loch-Style Champs is as high a profile event as you can get, and to be involved with a grass-roots project like the Junior Game Angling Talent Pathway is a huge privilege, knowing that it represents a vital part of growing game angling in the UK.”
Andy Taylor Angling Trust Competitions Support Officer said “Now in its third year the Angling Trust Loch-Style Team Championships has become a firm favourite on the competition circuit. I fished the first two years with my team, and I, like all the other anglers who have taken part, love the format and team spirit of this match.
We welcome entries from established teams of six anglers and new teams. This is a great opportunity to observe some of the best anglers in the country, win some great Wychwood gear, or take away the trophy, medals and cash prizes that are on offer. The Angling Trust would like to thank Ifor Jones and the staff at Draycote Water for hosting this competition again and Wychwood Game for sponsoring it. I look forward to seeing you at Draycote in June!”
