Southern FF Rivers Qualifier, R.Test

Wherwell Qualifier, Saturday 4th February 2012.

Under new management, entrants to the SFF Wherwell qualifier arrived to find that the temperature reading was minus 10!! The River Keeper duly arrived to open up and found the gas regulators frozen for the cooker and heating gas frozen solid – Oh Joy.

Briefing completed, the anglers headed off briskly (not sure if this was enthusiasm or just a means to get warm!).

The morning session was traditionally slow – with the exception of Howard Croston, who led the way with 23 fish, including the biggest fish of the day at 46cm.

The afternoon was more prolific, Richard Wood in first place with 25 fish and two other anglers catching over twenty each.

Total fish landed for the morning session was 54, the afternoon being even more productive with 93 landed.

Stena Line sponsors Spring Home International loch-style team

Manager Martin Introna recently confirmed that Stena Line are sponsoring the Spring Home International loch-style team by offering reduced ferry rates. Martin added, “We appreciate Stena Line’s help and can fully endorse them as ferry operators”. The Spring Loch-style International will take place in May at Lough Sheelin, so the cost of travel and logistics to Ireland is a major consideration.

TEFF AGM 27th November 2011

The Team England FF Annual General Meeting was held on 27th November 2011 at Egleton Bird Centre, Rutland Water.

During this meeting the new TEFF Constitution was ratified. For full details (incorporating all changes agreed at this meeting) see TEFF Constitution

Among other motions discussed, it was voted not to revert to the roll-over system for Loch-style International teams.

A motion proposing that anglers be allowed to enter as many qualifiers as they wish, ie multi-qualifier entry to Nationals, was withdrawn.

A motion proposing a two-day Loch-style National was defeated.

It was also agreed to assign a working party to look at the possibility of rationalising the current federations into fewer and larger organisations.

The possibilities for expansion of the Bank competition would also be examined.
