2020 Loch-style Qualifiers – Information

Attention all Loch-Style Competitors

There are some significant changes that you should be aware of for 2020.

Full details are in the rules and Frequently asked questions document – see link below.

Entry fee

TEFF is funded from anglers entry fees only. All the money generated goes to support all the teams. To achieve this it has been necessary from 2020 to increase the entry fees to the loch-style by £5 per entry to £35.(The entry fee of £30 has remained unaltered for several years)

Catch limits

To some extend TEFF is bound by the catch rules imposed by the fisheries it uses. Competitors have request that there are set catch rules for all the heats. To this end 2020 will see the introduction of three sets of catch limits.

1. Three fish kill then catch and release a further 10 then time bonus (This will apply to all Anglian Water heats)

2. Measure the first 3 fish then C&R all day with returned fish being allocated an average length as determined by the fishery. (The will apply to Eyebrook and Draycote)

3. As 1 above but with the release of 33 fish (This will apply to all other venues)

Hooks

With catch and release at all venues, many fisheries require that debarbed or barbless hooks are used. To this end ATTEFF has decided that from 2020 matches will be fished using debarded or barbless hooks throughout. This makes the daily administration (undertaking checks) simpler. At some future date, 1 to 2 years, the use of totally barbless hooks will be introduced. See rules re de-barbed flies.

Scoring

Following issues raised at the 2019 National Final and some heats it has been decided to tighten up on the scoring system. From 2020 each boat will be issued with a dry wipe A4 size encapsulated match card. Each angler will score his boat partners catch. You will be required to purchase a fine point permanent marker pen (Sharpie or similar at about £1 each). Again see rules and FAQs for full details.

Calendar

All heats are now on the match calendar along with other major fly fishing competitions (once dates are known)
